Resting on the WORD

MY STORY….

THE FAITH STORY-- AGAINST ALL ODDS

“I am a rescue! When I was a baby my family did not see how special God made me and abandoned me in a parking lot one day. But God was watching and sent an angel who picked me up because I had been called to a special purpose.

I was placed in a foster home where I was loved and cared for until I was 6 months old. Then it happened, a day I’ll never forget, I found my fur-ever home when I went to meet my new mommy and become her rescue. Although she says I rescued her, I think we rescued each other. Mommy named me “Faith” because she said I was a new hope and belief to her that life could bring new joy and miracles out of pain and loneliness. Little did Mommy or I know, my namesake was divinely chosen. I am a survivor, a fighter, a believer of miracles, and a living testimony of God’s goodness.

When I was 2 years old, as most curious toddlers do, I ventured where I shouldn’t and got into some antifreeze. Mommy immediately saw what had happened and did what mommies do—emergency inducing procedures and drove like a race car driver to the hospital. That was exciting! I always wanted to ride in a race car with my ears flapping in the wind. The doctor gave me a 50/50 chance of survival for the amount of antifreeze I had ingested into my little body within the next 72 hours. Mommy prayed and people from all over the world prayed for me to get better too. After 24 hours when mommy was visiting me she asked the nurse how I was doing. The nurse said, as though she was shocked, “She is not showing any of the clinical signs we always see at this stage with a dog that has this level of antifreeze in their system. This must have been a 50/50 solution. She is very lucky.” Mommy quickly replied, “No, this is Faith and God answers prayers and it was a 100% antifreeze.” Of course, I did not understand what all the fuss was about.

They had to keep me another 24 hours, although I did not understand why, I felt great and was ready to go home, but mommy assured me it was necessary and we would go home soon, so I believed her and kissed her goodbye. Before mommy left she placed her hand on my little kidneys and prayed a special prayer over me that God would let the blood of Jesus cleanse me and kill the poisons that had entered my body. God must have heard mommy’s prayer and all the people praying for me because the next day when the doctor checked my levels they were all completely normal with no signs of any poison. The nurse brought me a big breakfast and I ate every bite. I was starved! They let me go outside and I played and ran and rolled in the grass. And not a moment too soon the doctor called mommy and said I could go home. I couldn’t wait to see my mommy.

Mommy says I am her miracle puppy. I love my life and I love to play! Mommy says I am the only dog she knows that greets everyone with a toy in my mouth.

Together Mommy and I walk this life rescuing each other, her human prints on my heart and my paw prints on hers. Together we are the Faith story!”
